I really, really, really hate getting old. (And I really feel like I am getting old, since my birthday is this week). But seriously, just last week I injured myself somehow in my sleep. When I woke up I was stiff as a board. The next 3 days I took turns switching ice packs and heat packs on my back because apparently I am now old. How I hurt myself in my sleep? Who knows, that is the sad part. I don’t know what I do, but every few months, I pull a muscle and can hardly move. It is pathetic actually.
I know part of the problem is my sleep posture. I am typically a back or side sleeper, which is great compared to the tummy sleepers… but I often wake up sore. I think this is because my side sleeping position is more like a fetal position. I am scrunched up so tight I often wake up with lines on my skin!
Something needed to be done, I can’t keep having injuries from just sleep. It’s too lame. Plus, I get really crabby when my back is out. Aka, pain in my back = I’m a pain in the… you know what!

My Experience
A lot of our life is spent sleeping. So, getting a decent pillow and mattress is a good investment in the long run. I’ve gotta say, after testing the BackJoy pillow for over a week now, there is no doubt in my mind, that this pillow is a GREAT investment.
The pillow came in very nice plastic bag with handles. It makes it easy for travel, like when we go to the cabin, or the in-laws. It also came with an instruction and informational brochure to answer all the questions someone might have about the BackJoy Sleep Posture.
The pillow is smooth on one side (satin like) and soft on the other side (fabric). Having the two different sides means it doesn’t slide around on the bed. The sides are also about personal preference, if you like warm and cozy or cool and smooth.
Anyway, after reading about the BackJoy patented layer system of this pillow, I was curious to feel the layers. I quickly unzipped the cover, to see if I could feel the difference in the separate layers. On the inside I could tell there were separate layers – like the memory foam and the dual down fiber. After fluffing the pillow a bit and letting it settle, I could tell that the layers were what makes this pillow unique.
I found it comfortable and loved the density – not too stiff, not too lofty – just the right amount of fluff and firm. I can feel that it supports my neck, my neck doesn’t flop around. I get a little flexibility and movement, but feel secure. It is the right in-between. I felt like the pillow cradled my neck, filled in around my shoulders, yet let me adjust and re-adjust easily.
Now, after using this pillow for over a week, I am excited to tell you what a world of difference it has made! The pillow is very supportive, comfortable and I can feel the change in my neck and back! I am so impressed with this pillow that I am telling anyone who mentions back pain about this pillow.
