We are everyday, multiple times-a-day coffee cup drinkers. I must admit though, we did hold on to our traditional drip coffee maker for a very long time. It wasn’t until just last Christmas we gave ourselves the gift of a Keurig machine. Since making the switch, we’ve gotten the opportunity to try many new coffee flavors in single cup portions.
That’s what’s fun about a single serve coffee maker. We look forward to trying new coffee and checking the coffee aisle for up and coming brands of single cup coffee cups, and seeing if we will add more to our list of favorites.
So this week, I set out to find the McCafé Premium Roast coffee, made from high quality 100% Arabica beans. It has been active in Canada the last month, but new to the shelves in the USA. I headed to Wal-Mart, one of the first retailers to begin carrying it.
Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to find the single-serve pods in my town’s Wal-Mart. However, I did find the large bags of McCafé coffee, and some refillable cups. (I am told the single serve cup are on their way to be in all major retailers soon!)
I will say, I finally stumbled upon the coffee, while I was in the candy aisle. It looked like the coffee had JUST been added to the shelf. They were not even in the coffee section yet! They had their own bottom shelf across from the Holiday candy on a pretty sparse grocery shelf. (It seemed like the Wal-Mart was a little busy this season!) But still, I found it – and a coupon too!
Anyway, when I got home, I loaded up a couple of re-fillable cups and filled them with McCafé premium roast. When I popped them in the Keurig and pushed start, I immediately smelled the delicious coffee aroma. I filled my cup and started my daily routine.
Thoughts on the McCafé Premium Roast:
This coffee is the real deal, it tastes good and is a great deal. The coffee I bought at Wal-Mart tastes just like what I remember of having McCafé in the past. It is great to make at home when I don’t have plans to leave the house!
Now that I had my rich and smooth McCafé Premium Roast coffee, it was time to get stuff done! (And being the weekend before Christmas, I had a lot to do!) My productive day included lots of baking – Christmas popcorn, Christmas Cookies and Christmas pretzels dipped in chocolate, some online shopping and church service.
We were home most of the day, slaving away in the kitchen. Football was on TV, cookies were being baked in the oven and the premium coffee was being enjoyed. After our day of making all those baked goods, we piled them on big plates and delivered them to the neighbors that night. It was a great day.
That is how I enjoyed my weekend, how about you?
