I love games – from board games to card games. Today I tested out what could be a new family favorite: Ratuki {ra-too-kee}, by Hasbro. And it is definitely a blast!
Ratuki comes with 170 cards, in all different colors and styles, numbered 1-5, including 2 Ratuki wild cards in each deck. The goal of the game is to be the first player to score 100 points by collecting cards. Here’s how it’s done:
Each player has 3 cards, a pile to draw from and a discard pile. You have as many decks to play from as there are players. The game begins with the play of a “1” card and the next card down has to be one higher or one lower then the number in play. Once a “5” or the Ratuki wild card (subbed as a “5”) is down the player says, “Ratuki!” and that pile is theirs to take for points. Each card taken is worth one point. The cards that were discarded, are subtracted at one point each card.
You can play with two – five players. It’s a great time and very easy to learn. It reminds me of Uno, Skip-bo and Speed – rolled into one. Sometimes simple games are the best. I just hate losing pieces (or having the dog eat them) but with Ratuki is easy to count and make sure all the cards are all there. We played with 4 people, the game went by quick and was tons of fun.
Ratuki doesn’t come out until 2011, but right now spend $20 or more on Hasbro Toys & Games & Get a Free Hasbro Product Through the Mail* with a rebate form! Qualifying purchases must be made between December 25, 2010 and January 31, 2011 and submitted with your original receipt(s) and this order form. I wonder what the game will be… I sure hope it is Ratuki!
