Have you heard of 20 Mule Team Borax before?
Just earlier this week, 20 Mule Team Borax was new brand to me. A product from the Purex team, Borax was a brand I was not familiar with. How have I not heard of such a strangely named brand?
Well, to my surprise this product has been around since 1891. And what’s up with the name? Well the name is because it took 20 mule teams to transport the Borax from remote mines in Death Valley to the Railroad in Mojave. The mules hauled more than 12 million pounds of Borax 165 miles in 5 years betweeen 1883 and 1888.
What is it exactly?
Since this product has been around for a long time, it is no surprise that the 20 Mule Team Borax is 100% natural. It is a naturally occurring mineral from the earth that is removed from the ground, washed, dried and boxed for consumer use. The scientific name for Borax is sodium tetraborate.
Borax is a pure substance that has nothing added to it. This cleaning agent has absolutely no phosphates, chlorine, or other additive chemicals.
What does it do?
20 Mule Team Borax naturally softens hard water (which affects over 85% of homes) and improves detergent’s cleaning power. It also helps keep stains from being re-deposited back onto clothes. It works wonders for getting stains and odors out of your clothing!
