If you watch the television show Parks and Recreation, you saw the first episode of season 4, and found out just how Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler) feels about wine. Scene: She’s at a fine dining restaurant and when the waiter asks if they’d like to get a glass of wine…
Waiter: Would you like any wine to start?
Leslie: Yes, and I’m gonna be direct and honest with you, I would like a glass of red wine and I’ll take the cheapest one you have because frankly I can’t tell the difference.
This line along with her facial expressions had me rolling, but in my opinion is not totally true.
There are expensive wines I like and inexpensive wines I like. My hubby and I love trying new wines and keeping track of our favorites, so we can purchase these varieties again.
A red wine that we most recently tasted was the Conservancy Crimson and Clover Petite Sirah. Although we are avid red wine drinkers, we had yet to try a PETITE Sirah, this was a first! This is the first, of many, many more to come. This delicious wine definitely locked us in!
After reading the background history on this wine, it is no wonder we have never tried the PETITE Sirah! The story goes… this wine was created for John Concannon’s father, Jim, who is the “Father of America’s first Petite Sirah. It was presented to him for a 80th birthday gift. How neat, such tradition!
The Conservancy Crimson and Clover Petite Sirah is made by the Concannon Vineyard – a generational family business committed to preserving their winemaking heritage! Their goals are to maintain the vision of their great-grandfather’s dedication to rich and flavorful wines.
This particular wine is a blend which consists od 50% Petite Sirah, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Syrah and 10% Zinfandel. This wine, as well as all Concannon Conservancy wines are made with only grapes grown in Livermore vineyards. The Petite Sirah blend is a luscious one, both complex yet soft, and ultimately delicious. The rich, deep berry flavors had a lasting flavor.
This wine is the perfect glass wine to have with a suggested pairing of pepper-crusted filet mignon with goat cheese!
Buy Your Own!! All Conservancy wines are nationally distributed and are approximately affordable at $15. The collection of Conservancy wines include Petite Sirah, Merlot, Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon.
